Study habits among university students of accounting at Centro Universitario Temascaltepec, Mexico

Abstract

Study habits are behaviors that students learn by repetition during their academic training. Good habits help achieve goals, as long as they are worked out properly. The objective of this study was to determine the level of utilization of study habits by students in the second, fourth, sixth and eighth semester of the Accounting Degree in the Temascaltepec University Center of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. The population consisted of 143 students of both sexes. We used the validated inventory tool of Habits of Study, with a quantitative approach that served to calculate the level of utilization of the scales: study environmental conditions, study planning, use of materials, content assimilation and sincerity.The results indicated that, for the scale of environmental conditions of study, students in the second, fourth, sixth and eighth semesters had a level of Moderate Normal utilization; in the scale of study planning, it was identified that in the second semester students had a level of Low Normal use, while the fourth semester, sixth semester and eighth semester had a Moderate Normal level. In the scale of use of materials, students in the second semester presented a level of Normal Low utilization and the fourth, sixth and eighth semesters presented a Moderate Normal level. On the content assimilation scale, students had a Normal Low utilization level in the second, fourth, sixth and eighth semesters. Finally, on the scale of sincerity, students of the second, fourth, sixth and eighth semester presented a Moderate Normal level of utilization.
